Leading Hand, Urban Bushland and Vegetation

About the Opportunity

The Urban Bushland Team delivers maintenance and upgrading of City of Darwin's Urban Bushland areas. This includes litter removal, pathway maintenance, pruning and tree removal, weed control and revegetation programs.

The leading hand is responsible for the daily coordination and scheduling of team members, plant, equipment and materials to ensure effective delivery of Urban Bushland maintenance tasks for the Urban Bushland and Vegetation Management team. This role is also required to assist the Supervisor Urban Bushland & Maintenance with the planning, organising, and implementation of the daily works in accordance with the municipal plans and strategic direction of the City of Darwin.

To be a Leading Hand, you will need:

  • Certificate Ill Conservation and Land Management or equivalent qualification and/or minimum of 3 (years) years relevant industry experience
  • Coaching experience
  • General Units of Competency or equivalent AusChem course in prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases & transport and store chemicals.
  • Chainsaw competencies
  • General Construction Industry - White Card
  • C Class Drivers Licence
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Vehicle Licence, or ability to obtain
  • Provide First Aid (including CPR and Basic Emergency life support), or ability to obtain.

Salary: $73,789.13 per year plus superannuation (12%) per annum.
