Supervisor City Maintenance

This position is required to effectively supervise a grounds maintenance team and deliver City Maintenance (Ward) works in accordance with recurrent work programs, municipal planning and other ad hoc needs as they arise given the nature of the region. As a member of the operational leadership team this position is expected to lead, guide and manage the allocated City Maintenance ward team in accordance with our Code of Conduct and other legislative obligations.
Some key responsibilities:
- Maintain consistent and effective leadership to ensure a team culture in accordance with our values which promotes positive staff engagement, equitable workloads and effective performance
- Plan, coordinate and implement ad hoc and council required projects, as relevant to City Maintenance works.
- Provide clear direction and ongoing workplace coaching and mentoring to leading hands to continue to develop leadership capabilities within the team.
- Maintain a system and appropriate records of the undertaking and completion of weekly service audits and quarterly safety inspections.
- Lead by example and maintain section compliance with all Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and practices to ensure City of Darwin's duty of care and legislative obligations are maintained at all times.
About YOU:
The ideal applicant for the City Maintenance Supervisor role will demonstrate strong accountability, with a proven ability to lead teams. They will be able to apply their excellent grounds maintenance management experience to existing service standards and programs and guide their team to achieve service outcomes. They will support and mentor their leading hand and foster a healthy and professional team culture.
To be successful you will have:
- Certificate IV in Conservation & Land Management/Horticulture or equivalent qualification or industry relevant experience
- Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or equivalent industry relevant supervisory experience (Minimum 4 years)
- General Construction Industry - White Card
- Possession of a Class C Drivers Licence
