About the Opportunity:

A full time, permanent employment opportunity has become available for a Senior Technical Officer (Parks) to join our Parks and Reserves team.

We are looking for a talented person to drive improvements across our Parks and Reserves team to ensure sustainable, fit for purpose outcomes are achieved for our park and open space network. You would be reviewing landscape plans, developing policies and procedures, preparing business cases, assessing new innovations, and undertaking benchmarking exercises to ensure our practices are efficient, cost effective and aligned to industry best practice. To give you a greater challenge, there will be opportunities to manage some of the more complex reactive requests, preparing reports and briefings. It is a diverse role, with a lot of opportunity to work with internal and external stakeholders and make positive change.

The role is based at our operations depot in Winnellie.

To be considered for this role you must:

  • Have a Degree level qualification in a relevant disciple, or a Diploma level qualification with considerable experience
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience demonstrating strategic, tactical and operational experience
  • Possess sound computer skills, particularly Microsoft office, Map Info and GIS capabilities
  • Have the ability to obtain a National Police Records Criminal History Check
  • Hold and maintain a Class C driver's licence
  • Hold a General Construction Industry - White Card (or ability to maintain prior to commencing employment)

The base salary for this position is $95,527.33 per annum plus superannuation. City of Darwin also provides generous leave entitlements such as six (6) weeks annual leave and fifteen (15) days personal leave.
