We have a full-time opportunity for an experienced Greening Officer to join the Parks & Reserves team at our Operations facility in Winnellie.

The Greening Officer will report to the Coordinator Parks & Reserves who'll get the works going in the right direction. The Greening Officer is responsible for the delivery of actions relating to the Greening Darwin Strategy as they relate to the Parks and Reserves section. These actions include proactive and reactive tree planting programs, community engagement activities such as the Native Plant Giveaway program and Gardens for Wildlife Program and the procurement and production of tree stock to support those programs.

Sound horticultural skills and experience including nursery work, project management experience, an ability to work professionally and efficiently in a small team and motivation for the greening work Council is doing is necessary for this role.

To be successful in the role you:

  • Cert III in Arboriculture/Horticulture or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of three (3) years related work experience
  • General Construction Industry - White Card
  • Aus Chem (competencies below)
  • AHCCHM3007 - Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases
  • AHCCHM304 - Transport and store chemicals
  • Demonstrate project delivery skills
  • First Aid Certificate (including CPR and Basic Emergency) or ability to obtain pre-employment
  • MR Licence or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • C Class Driver licence
