(Senior) Coordinator Animal Management

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Manager Regulatory Services, the (Senior) Coordinator Animal Management is responsible for the supervision and coordination of City of Darwin's animal management, education, pound and regulatory services team to ensure regulatory and enforcement activities are compliant with relevant legislation and Council's strategic direction and policies. This position will also play a pivotal role in consultation and collaboration with stakeholders to develop new strategies that address the diversity of current issues related to animal management, compliance and enforcement.

Key Areas of Service Delivery Responsibilities will include but not limited to:-

  • Lead and manage the animal management team to deliver regulatory and enforcement actions, pound services and animal policy and education functions.
  • Lead the review, implementation and continual improvement of City of Darwin's animal management operations to ensure organisational responsiveness and compliance with different legislations and policies.
  • Supervise and coordinate investigations, compliance and enforcement actions and preparation of briefs for prosecution and attendance at court in accordance with legislation and Council policies and guidelines.

About you:

You will have demonstrated experience in a regulatory body / Local Government and be a leader of teams to drive collaboration, cultural change, and innovation to ensure a high performing team.

To be successful for this role - you must hold:-

  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations, ability to obtain or equivalent experience
  • Previous regulatory experience in Local Government or a related field
  • Possession of a Class C Drivers Licence
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Records Check

For a Level 7 Classification - you will have:-

  • Diploma Level Qualifications in a relevant discipline or field, or
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in an operational leadership role within a regulatory authority.

For a Level 8 Classification (Senior) - you will have:-

  • Relevant Degree qualifications or equivalent extensive work experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in an operational leadership role within a regulatory authority.
