  • Full-time, permanent with RDOs
  • 6 weeks annual leave, 15 days personal leave

City of Darwin is seeking to recruit:

  • Leading Hand Urban Bushland ($73,789.13 per annum + 12% superannuation)
  • Senior Urban Bushland Labourer ($67,736.67 per annum + 12% superannuation)
  • Urban Bushland Labourer ($64,100.30 per annum + 12% superannuation)

These are hands-on positions maintaining and upgrading of City of Darwin's Urban Bushland areas. This includes activities like weed management, fire mitigation, revegetation works, track maintenance and litter collection.

The Urban Bushland team are expected to ensure all works are completed to standard, in an efficient and safe manner and ensure the appropriate care, maintenance and use of associated council resources. Teamwork will be a key skill to ensure you can work collaboratively to ensure timelines are met. Communication skills will also be key in ensuring you can engage appropriately with community members when out on site.

You will have:

Urban Bushland Labourer (Level 1)

  • Certificate II in Horticulture or equivalent qualification and / or minimum 2 (two) years relevant experience
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
  • General Construction Industry - White Card
  • Units of Competency or equivalent AusChem course for: -
    • AHCCHM3007 - Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases
    • AHCCHM304 - Transport and store chemicals
  • Work Zone Traffic Management 2 & 3
  • RIIWHS205D Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat
  • RIIWHS302D Implement Traffic Management Plan

Senior Urban Bushland Labourer (Level 2)

  • Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management or equivalent qualification and /or minimum of three (3) years relevant experience
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
  • General Construction Industry - White Card
  • Units of Competency or equivalent AusChem course for: -
    • AHCCHM3007 - Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases
    • AHCCHM304 - Transport and store chemicals
  • Chainsaw Competencies
    • FWPCOT2253 - Fell trees manually (basic)
    • PWPCOT2256 - Trim and cut felled trees
  • Demonstrated experience of coaching others in job skills

Leading Hand Urban Bushland (Level 3)

  • Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
  • General Construction Industry - White Card
  • Units of Competency or equivalent AusChem course for: -
    • AHCCHM3007 - Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases
    • AHCCHM304 - Transport and store chemicals
  • Chainsaw Competencies
    • FWPCOT2253 - Fell trees manually (basic)
    • PWPCOT2256 - Trim and cut felled trees
  • Demonstrated experience of coaching others in job skills
  • Provide First Aid
