About the Opportunity:
An excellent leadership opportunity has become available for a Manager, Waste and Resource Recovery. Primarily based at the City of Darwin Civic Centre you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliant and effective operations at Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility, the Northern Territory's largest landfill facility, providing essential waste services for the community that also underpin biosecurity, human and environmental health for the region. This role is also pivotal for supporting the Northern Territory circular economy and diverting resources away from landfill.
As part of the role, you will lead compliance, including with the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority. This role is dynamic, where you will work in multistakeholder environments across varied operational and infrastructure projects. You'll ensure that contracts are safely and effectively undertaken and that a high standard of customer service is maintained both at the waste management facility and across the other waste management services delivered through City of Darwin.
About you:
The successful candidate will demonstrate proven experience in leading high-performing teams and possess strong interpersonal skills, enabling the development of positive relationships with key stakeholders. A keen attention to detail is essential when undertaking contract and contractor management, supervising operational projects and preparing accurate, timely reports, briefings, and budget documentation.
In addition, the successful candidate will have a strong environmental awareness and contribute to the delivery of the City of Darwin's Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy and Climate Emergency Response Strategy as required.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science or relevant discipline and/or experience.
- At least five (5) years' experience in the waste management and resource recovery industry.
- At least five (5) years' experience in leading teams
- Possession of a Class C Drivers Licence
- General Construction Industry - White Card
- National Police Clearance
