  • $81,784 per annum + 12% superannuation
  • 6 weeks annual leave, 15 days personal leave
  • Paid RDO every 4 weeks, District allowance

Join City of Darwin's dynamic Fleet & Workshop team and put your mechanical expertise to work across a diverse range of fleet—from heavy diesel to hybrid vehicles—tackling everything from diagnostics to repairs in a fast-paced, hands-on role where no two days are the same!

Reporting to the Team Leader - Workshop, you will perform a variety of maintenance and service tasks on Council's fleet of vehicles. This will involve proactive maintenance, emergency breakdowns and service/repairs for Council plant, equipment, and vehicles.

Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Undertaking fault diagnosis
  • Council Fleet and Vehicle Servicing
  • Maintaining an orderly workshop
  • Liaising with customers

About you


This role will require you to have great attention to detail and time management skills. You will be a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic and have sound knowledge and experience on heavy commercials, earthmoving, agricultural type equipment, light fleet and ancillary items including hybrid. You will be compliant with all aspects of workplace health and safety.

To be considered for the role you must hold:

At least one of the below Certificates III or equivalent qualification

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Certificate III in Agricultural Mechanical Technology
  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology

And

  • Medium Rigid Licence (MR)
  • General Construction Industry - White Card
  • Forklift licence or ability to obtain
