About the Opportunity
We are looking for a full-time, temporary Pound Attendant to join our Animal Management team who operate City of Darwin's Municipal Animal Pound. This position is based at our Municipal Animal Pound located in Berrimah, and will be responsible for the day-to-day care of impounded animals across a Monday - Friday role with optional weekend overtime.
What do we ask our Pound Attendants to do?
- Cleaning and disinfecting of kennelling areas including but not limited to cages, equipment, runs and common areas, ensuring that a high level of hygiene is maintained at all times to ensure animal wellbeing.
- Humanely provide animal care and identify animals which may be ill, injured, aggressive or difficult to control and take appropriate action as per the standard procedures.
- Provide food and water for all impounded animals.
- Assist the Veterinarian and Supervios of Pound Operations as required.
- Provide high level customer service to all stakeholders, including members of the public.
What do we need you to have?
We are looking for individuals with good work ethic, enthusiasm and can-do attitude. You will possess good computer skills and have the ability to perform manual tasks.
Do be successful you must have:-
- Cert II in Animal Care or equivalent qualification/or minimum one (1) years relevant experience
- Class C Drivers licence
- Tetanus injection upon appointment to the position.
