City of Darwin is seeking a motivated Revenue Officer to join our Finance team on a limited tenure basis for 8 months. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team delivering accurate and efficient rates and debtor services to our community.

About the Role

Reporting to the Supervisor Revenue, you will provide a high standard of support to City of Darwin's external customers and staff in relation to revenue enquiries and requests, while maintaining an accurate and functional rates ledger.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with the public and stakeholders (lawyers, conveyancers, debt collectors, government departments) on Rates and Debtor matters
  • Processing payment transactions, invoicing, journal entries and refunds
  • Managing Rates ledger amendments, including NAR updates, waste levy exemptions, and rate notices for strata titles, sub-divisions and revaluations
  • Assisting with monthly reconciliations, aged debtors' trial balance, and month-end reporting
  • Responding to queries via the rates team email account

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping (or equivalent qualification/experience) for Level 3, or a Diploma in Accounting or related studies for Level 4
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a finance-related role (Level 3) or 4 years (Level 4), including experience with computerised accounting systems and Excel
  • Level 4 also requires a minimum of 2 years' experience in a local government rates section
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • A current Class C driver's licence
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Records Check Clearance
